FAQs

  • Each year we customize our school bus stops and routes to best accommodate the students we will be transporting for that particular school season. We factor in home addresses and the safest main thoroughfares and snow emergency streets in the area to formulate a convenient and effective school bus route that will enable us to safely bring students to school on time. It is our mission to transport students to and from school in a prompt, professional and reliable manner, just as our team has done for the past 30 years.

  • We target our arrival time at the school for somewhere between 7:30 am and 7:45am, and we take into consideration the possibility of traffic and unfavorable weather conditions. This leaves plenty of time for students to arrive before the first bell.

  • A. Our CITIBUS NYC buses are always waiting for your child in their designated area before 9th period dismissal. Students will be advised in advance exactly where these buses are located to avoid any confusion. Regular departure time is 3:05 pm, and each child has a reserved seat on their designated bus. Please note that for students who are in the SGI program, there is a special courtesy bus that departs at 3:50 pm that is designated especially for them. Students can get a reserved seat on an SGI Bus by faxing or emailing a copy of their school program. Our fax is 718-961-7609, and our email is info@instatebus.com.

  • We understand that there are times when a student may need to stay later than regular dismissal time. In fact, we supply additional courtesy buses daily at no additional charge for our students. These courtesy buses follow generic routes that bring our students safely into their borough.

For students residing in Queens who have CITIBUS NYC bus passes, there are two additional late bus times each school day – 5:15pm and 6:05pm in addition to the SGI 3:50pm bus.

For students residing in Manhattan who have CITIBUS NYC bus passes, there are two late bus times each school day – 5:30pm and 6:05pm in addition to the SGI 3:50pm bus.

  • Signing up is easy. For each child, we must receive a completed and signed Transportation Contract. This contract may be submitted online, or if you choose to mail in your contract, you may download forms from our website. Be sure to check out early registration deadlines for our discounted rates.

  • Once the routes are settled, bus passes will be distributed by our drivers (usually the second or third week of school).

  • Yes, however the cost remains the same. All of our transportation contracts include two-way service. When reserving a seat on a bus, it automatically reserves the seat for that child to and from school on that same bus. A customer may choose to have a child only use the service one way. Please let us know of this exception in advance.

  • You may submit all questions or requests in writing to Mr. Ralph Potter at ralphpotter@instatebus.com. He will be happy to accommodate when he can. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response.

  • We use a very effective and simple method of communicating with our passengers and parents through Instant Push Notification that allows us to easily send important messages through mobile devices. You can sign up for this service through our website late August / early September.

  • Marie Rivera from our team is available to address any questions regarding payments. Please contact her directly at marierivera@instatebus.com.

  • Bronx High School of Science and High School of American Studies at Lehman College are conveniently located a mere few blocks from one another, so it’s only one extra stop for our bus to make.

In the mornings, buses traveling from Manhattan drop students at High School of American Studies before heading to their final destination at Bronx High School of Science. Buses traveling from Queens stop at Bronx High School of Science first, then drop students at High School of American Studies. We have used this system in the past, and it’s a tried and true method that works for all.

  • That’s no problem. The cost to replace the lost bus pass is $45 as stated in our contract. To obtain a new one, the student simply gives their bus driver a note along with a $45 check. Please note that the student can only ride on their designated bus during this time and cannot ride on the SGI or late bus until a valid bus pass is reissued.
